Red Wine

Cabernet Sauvignon 2001
This wine is 100% cabernet sauvignon. The grapes were sourced from a cool climate vineyard at Lankey's Creek, high in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. This is a full-bodied, fruity wine with berry flavours and a hint of oak. This is well balanced and expected to age well over the next 10 years although it is drinking well now.

Shiraz Cabernet 2000
Shiraz Cabernet is a blend of two popular varieties, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine combines the cool climate characteristics of the cabernet from the upper Murray with the shiraz from the warmer regions of Walla Walla. The wine is medium bodied with a complex mix of vanilla, plum, and herbal aromas. This well-balanced wine shows lots of fruit flavours and some oak. It is at its best for drinking now and over the next 3-4 years.

Tarrango
Tarrango is uniquely Australian but its style is very Mediterranean. It has a brilliant scarlet colour which announces its zesty vibrant cherry and raspberry flavours. The perfect balance allows the sweetness of the slow ripened fruit to finish with a clean fresh palate. This delicate light red should be chilled but not cold. Tarrango is a natural match for many Italian, Greek and Lebanese dishes especially those lunchtime meals involving pasta, veal, chicken, fish and salads.

White Wines

Semillon 2000
Semillon is a great variety. It starts out as a young fruity wine with lots of citrus and melon flavours and slowly matures into a complex nutty/buttery straw coloured mature wine. This Semillon combines maturity with fruity freshness. A hint of lemon is mingled with a nutty buttery flavour to give this Semillon the characteristics of a mature white wine. It continues to improve as it matures.

Semillon 2002
Semillon is a classic dry white variety that is well suited to the warm climate of the Walla Walla area. This Semillon is at the peak of its youth with lime and lemon dominating the softer tones of melon and gooseberry. This wine was made from our second crop from our vineyard resulting in a lighter style of Semillon.

Summer Muscat
We call this wine "summer Muscat" to differentiate it from the sweet fortified wines called Muscat. Our summer Muscat is made from a blend of Muscat of Alexandria, brown muscat and the Australian variety Taminga. The light pink colour comes from skin contact with the brown muscat grapes. This wine is a moderately sweet table wine and is made in the same way as the Italian wine "Muscato". It has loads of grape aroma and taste and although moderately sweet it is well balanced with a clean finish on the palate. It goes well with Asian food such as Thai, Cantonese and Japanese and is a natural accompaniment to Mediterranean food. It is a refreshing drink on those hot Australian summer days around the pool or on a picnic.

Bubbles
Bubbles is a sparkling dry white called "Bubbles" because we are not allowed to use the "cham." word to describe this type of wine. This wine is very popular with our customers and is a refreshing fruity style of sparkling wine that is not too dry being fruity with lots of bubbles for that special occasion or just to enjoy with or without a meal.

Fortified Wines

Walla Walla Football Club Centenary Port
This port is a rich and robust deep ruby red port that was made to celebrate the centenary of the Walla Walla football club. If it tastes like a full bodied sweet Shiraz that is because that's what it is. Don't worry if you aren't a "grasshopper" supporter as the wine is lovely especially around the campfire or watching your favourite sport or just fishing or doing nothing. Who knows it may be a collector's item in years to come, although we would prefer to drink it and collect stamps instead.

Little Red Hen Tawny
Our "Tawny" is a smooth liqueur port that shows characters of ageing typical of hot climate tawny ports. The wine is sweet with some rancio characteristics. This wine is best in small quantities as an after-dinner drink with cheese or fruit or just by itself.

Little Red Hen Muscat
With Rutherglen so close we have taken the opportunity of buying bulk wine and skilfully blending to produce a Muscat that although uniquely ours is sourced from the Rutherglen and region. It is rich and luscious with a mix of young grapey freshness and raisined fruit.

Little Red Hen Gift Pack Muscat
This Muscat is specially bottled in a tall 500 ml bottle for that special occasion or a gift. It is a liqueur muscat showing the benefits of ageing. This wine exhibits raisined fruit characteristics and a luscious balanced character.
